A Little Bite off the Apple...

Finally, I did it..

I have been considering the move to the enigmatic Mac for a year or two.. and, at last, I did it.. A life-long Windows aficionado (and an MS-DOS enthusiast before that..), a few weeks ago, I plucked up the courage to abandon the comfort zone of the all-familiar PC and the relative convenience of Windows, in search of that elusive charm and flare that the Mac promised so persistently...

My first impression was 'Wow!..'.. my second, 'Wow, wee..'.. This is simply so cool.. so intuitive.. so user-friendly.. and so blooming fantastic.. visually as well as functionally... You might say it's a case of 'simple things fascinate simple folks'.. and, boy, am I fascinated!..

I cannot claim that I am already familiar with OS X.. I was just starting to scratch the surface of Tiger (OS X 10.4), when Leopard (OS X 10.5) was launched. I upgraded to it, and I was amazed all over again... It is going to take me a while before I can navigate my way through the maze of OS X before it becomes anywhere near as familiar as Windows has become for me.. but I am in no hurry, and I am enjoying the adventure already...

Oh, well.. I just thought I'd share that with you...

Don't forget that it was by eating the Apple that Adam was cast out of Eden. I have to admit, the Mac is looking increasingly sexy for me too. Good luck ;)

I'm glad you got to posting again, thanks to the Apple. Kind of similar to what happened to Newton :-)
At the latest count, I'm working on a daily basis with at least 3 different PC's, a desktop and 2 Laptops.
The desktop (Acer) is part of a network of 23. The laptops, a Toshiba and a Vaio serve 2 different purposes. The first mainly dedicated to AutoCAD, Photoshop and CorelDraw while the 2nd is my companion on the road. How can you teach this old dog new tricks and make him take the plunge from oranges to apples?
Anyway, I only hear good words of Apple and I know of some people who take it to bed with them.
Congratulations, have a delicious bite.

Wassim,
I think you will find that the Paradise that is Mac offers pleasures that surpass by a long way anything that the PC Heaven can come up with.. I'd say go for it...

Abu Fares,
It was my worry about old dogs and new tricks that stopped moving over all these years.. that and the concern over compatibility.. As you would expect, everything on Earth runs on Windows, and NHS hospital computers are no exception (talk about World domination!..).. But with the new Mac, compatibility is not an issue.. You can run Windows programmes on Mac.. I still have my old PC, and it is networked with the new Mac, and the two work fine together..

SiL,
I would highly recommend it..
I do not have a laptop (well, I have an ancient one that is totally obsolete now..), but next time I get rich, it will be a Mac Book Pro.. No doubt about it..

nice!

Me too! ... I got my first Mac in 15 years this year.

I really like it ... Leopard s great. But ... the main reason I started to switch is to be able to snch nicely to my iPhone ... my future iPhone (not available in Canada yet)
