Ransom Paid!...

Free!.. I am free, at last!...
Yes!..
A few months ago, I made up my mind.. I decided that I no longer want to be held at ransom..
I decided that I will pay the £ 3,000, in return for my freedom to visit MY country..
And yesterday, I got my Military Service Book from home.. and Lo and Behold.. it is all there.. It is now official.. My file has been closed...

Now, there is no stopping me!..

SB,

Mabrook. I have been carrying the application forms for the past month and have filled them out yet. How long did the process take?

Good for you SB, congrat.
However, be aware of the kidnapper’s state of mind after receiving the ransom:
Do not ever think that if you paid your ransom it means that you can speak your mind; we still have your parents and relatives at our hands.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind wishes..

Abu Kareem,
My father put in the application a week or ten days before Christmas, and the whole process was complete within eight weeks or so.. Mind you, Eid Al-Adha, Christmas and the New Year fell during that period..

Saint,
Thanks for the warning.. I have no delusions that this 'ransom' confers any form of immunity!!..

Mabrook Mr. SB.
at least now if you want to serve the flag, you'd do that voluntarily :)

Thank you, DJ..
In fact, I firmly believe that is the ONLY way to 'serve the flag'..
I also believe that most of us do it every day of our lives, one way or another..

SB
As far as I'm concerned this has one significant meaning. Now you can come and go as you please and our chances of finally meeting and spending some quality time together have increased. I'm waiting for your next visit my friend, and by the way: Congratulations!

Abu Fares,
That's exactly what I meant by the last sentence in my post!.. Now, there is no stopping me!..

Congratulation Syrian Brit, it was a long road but now you're free. When we meet, if we meet, I’ll tell you how much your experience has had an impact on a lot of things with me, Strange I know, but very much true.

Enjoy your freedom

Salaam

I am intrigued, SiL.. seriously intrigued...
How on Earth could my experience have an impact on you??!...
I cannot wait to find out...

Syrian in London said...

That will have to wait till we meet face to face, when will u next be in london?

The Syrian Brit said...

I don't really know, SiL.. I don't go to the Capital very often.. perhaps you should consider visiting Lancashire?...

Syrian in London said...

That will be even less frequent for me my friend. Leave it to chance & we will manage to meet one day!

Hello Johanna,
Try this link:
http://www.thephonebook.bt.com/publisha.content/en/search/residential/search.publisha

It is, basically, the British Telecom telephone book, and, if it finds the person you are looking for, it will give you an address and a telephone number..
I am sure there are more sophisticated ways if this simple one fails..
Good luck!..
